Surrey Sussex Osteopathy

Our Story

Hello I’m Annie, owner of Surrey Sussex Osteopathy (SSO).

I often get asked why I chose Osteopathy as a profession. The answer is pretty simple.

At school I always wanted to be a detective! I was also very sporty and spent lots of time being fascinated with injury and how the body repaired itself.  I soon realised that I could combine my passions and become a ‘detective of the body’ – listening to people’s injuries, piecing together the clues, finding the source of the pain and a solution!

I trained in Osteopathy at Oxford Brookes University. Alongside my studies I joined the University hockey team and was selected to be part of the 1st XV playing in the BUCS Premier League. I played for 4 years and was able to improve my taping skills, injury knowledge and pitch side treatment. Working on my team mates and other members of the club in the University Osteopathy Clinic was fantastic practical experience for the real world.

My dissertation was based around Scoliosis (Curvature of the spine), an area I am particularly interested in and treat frequently. I like helping patients to improve aesthetics of their curve, educate them about their body and teaching ways to maintain symptoms.

I enjoy treating a variety of different age ranges, the youngest patient being 8 and eldest 90. I have treated many conditions, posture, running injuries, picking up the watering can (gardening) injuries, disc/back pain, arthritis to name a few. Also, I have had the opportunity to treat young academy footballers,  professional West End performers and dancers, young professional boxers, horse riders, trail runners, and cyclists!

I launched SSO in early 2019 after moving back to the area after 5 years living and treating patients in Reading, Berkshire. I am really excited to be able to offer my skills in Osteopathy, Sports Massage, Taping and Medical Acupuncture to the local community.

I am a strong believer in if you have no improvement then I won’t give up on you, I’ll direct you to the relevant person/profession to ensure you get the best quality of care.

Look forward to meeting you soon, Annie

I’d love to hear from you!
